Expertise sought:
We seek an energetic team-oriented person with deep expertise in power markets and procurement to join our firm. You will work with utilities, government agencies, and industry groups at the intersection of renewable energy and wholesale energy market design and regulation. The consulting work will focus on matters including utility ratemaking, RTO market design, competitive procurement, and resource integration. You will provide our clients with expert advice regarding approaches to transition power portfolios, align regulatory and market incentives, and design programs to procure grid scale renewable resources.
Responsibilities and qualifications:
- The ideal teammate will provide expert advice, lead client engagements, build the consulting team’s skill set, and support business development efforts in these practice areas.
- We are looking for a person with significant experience ready to step in and succeed in a senior role.
- Significant experience designing and managing energy procurements: managing outreach with interested parties, setting and performing bidder qualification; structuring procurement objectives and auction parameters; establishing selection criteria; designing and implementing selection framework, and so forth.
- Experience navigating the commercial and policy issues associated with successfully contracting and selling the output of renewable resources and related products (e.g., RECs, emissions-free energy certificates (EFECs), carbon offsets).
- Broad familiarity with the matters most impacting investment risk, affordability, and reliability; such matters include FERC wholesale market and transmission policies, retail markets and state jurisdictional resource planning and cost recovery, environmental and siting issues.
- An understanding of the relevant existing federal and state energy regulations and policies and the demonstrated ability to analyze and advise clients regarding the impacts of proposed regulations and policies.
- Desire to work in a strongly teamwork-oriented environment.
- Experience being part of and leading teams.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with clients and team members and to deliver analysis and advice.
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in law, economics, finance, or another related field a plus.
- Demonstrated success in business development and sales a plus.
